Privacy policy
Last updated: July 2026
This policy explains what personal data TidyCoats collects, why, who we share it with and how long we keep it. We only collect what we need to pass your enquiry to a groomer, and we never sell your data.
Who we are
TidyCoats ("we") operates the dog and cat grooming directory at tidycoats.co.uk and is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at contact@tidycoats.co.uk.
What we collect
- Enquiry details you send us — your name and phone number, and optionally your pet's breed and any notes you add, when you submit the enquiry form.
- Analytics data — if you consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. We also record which page an enquiry came from and the device type (mobile, tablet or desktop) as a category, not a device identifier.
We do not ask for, or need, an email address, postal address or payment details to send an enquiry.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
We use your enquiry details for one purpose: to pass your enquiry to the groomer you chose so they can respond. Our lawful basis is your consent (you choose to send the enquiry) and our legitimate interest in connecting owners with local groomers. Analytics is used only with your consent, which you can give or refuse in the cookie banner.
Who we share it with
- The groomer you enquire to, so they can reply to you. That groomer then handles your details under their own privacy practices.
- Our service providers, who process data on our behalf under contract: our hosting and database provider (Supabase) and, with your consent, Google Analytics. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.
Cookies and analytics
Analytics cookies are off by default. They load only if you accept them in the cookie banner (we use Google Consent Mode, which defaults to denied until you choose). You can change your mind at any time.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for up to 24 months so we can follow up on the introduction and resolve any issues, after which they are deleted. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard settings.
Your rights
Under UK data-protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, and to object to it or ask for it to be ported. To exercise any of these, email contact@tidycoats.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data you can complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
